Today is the first time in a long time when I feel like shouting :I am a proud Romanian! To all my Facebook friends I want to explain why lately youve seen mainly posts in Romanian and you might have wondered what is wrong with Anca? Well, in short, Romania has been transiting for 2 years a period of serious concern towards the deepening of its core democracy, establishment of the rule of law, good governance and economic performance. Yesterday, the Romanian people have elected their president. But at the same time, yesterday, the Romanian people have chosen their destiny. Although the democracy has been installed in Romania for 25 years, the imbedded acceptance of democracy by each individual in Romanian has been rather shallow. One cannot reset 45 years of commanded minds into free thinkers immediately. After years of seeing how an important chunk out of the political spectrum is crushing everything and anything in their way: rules, laws, people, self esteem, hope and installing fear, disappointment, hatred and setting the example of a society depicted from the 30s in some gangs from New York, last night I dare to call that a momentum was created. Hope was reinstalled and people had the courage to say enough is enough! The Romanian government made all due diligence to impede the Romanians living outside the country to cast their vote. The current Prime Minister, was crushed in votes due to the arrogance and low respect he has shown and manifested as head of Governemnt. Although he led the elections results in the 1st round with a difference of 10% from the second candidate, he lost the 2nd round of elections by a difference of 10% to the NEWLY ELECTED PRESIDENT KLAUS IOHANNIS. So, to all of my non Romanian friends I would like to give a thank you, and especially to their countries, as they allowed us to live, learn and work there. They offerd us the opportunity of leaving what is called free choice!!! The Romanian diaspora voted 90% against corruption, against poor education, against misuse of public money, against the 36 new taxes imposed in the last 2 years, against Victor Ponta the current Prime Minister. The same percentage voted for DEMOCRACY, RULE OF LAW, ECONOMIC RECOVERY, RESPECT OF THE CITIZEN, DEEPENING OF OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH NATO AND THE US, BECOMING A STRONG PARTNER WITHIN THE EU AND A KEY POLITICAL PARTNER WITHIN NATO....WE VOTED FOR A NORMAL SOCIETY - AND WE CHOSE KLAUS IOHANNIS TO REPRESENT OUR BELIEVES! Maybe your systems are not perfect, but they surely allowed us to compare and contrast societies which rule democratically with a society that mocked democracy!!! Thank you all!
