Today it is 25 years since Namibian activist Anton Lubowski was assassinated - and we dont really know who did it. Our thoughts are with his family and friends, who carry the burden of loss and many unanswered questions. 3 February 1952 – 12 September 1989 “Even if I have to die, Namibia will have peace.” David Beresford writes in the Guardian on March 21 1990: “Anton’s death can be seen as a fulcrum which has tipped the balance between civil war and peace. His killing somehow seemed to lance the boil, drawing the pus of hatred and easing the fever of inter-communal conflict.” After 25 years we still miss you as much as the first day of your passing, but now we are able to appreciate your sacrifice and are proud of the example you left for us and which we can follow. May all Namibians, as well as all the citizens of southern Africa pay tribute to you today.
