Today looks kind of gloomy but as Lazybee have accepted 2 more pieces of my work ( conditional on a great deal of editing!) I feel moderately chirpy. This in spite of being somewhat dodgy on the old pins after over excesses on stairs last night with my lovely friends Bryanne & Simon who dined me & gave me encouraging words about my forthcoming reading at Polari. Terrifying but salutary! Thanks boys. As for the weather: the sky is grey but no rain so far & with shapeless clouds lingering, –I always feel that clouds should have a shape but today they are a nebulous greyish mass. Last night London was at its best with people in Trafalgar square just wandering about watching a young guy perform amazing tricks with a football & rather a lot of Union Jack covered people just being. This is new to me I guess it is post Olympic fervour or something. The whole of London appeared to be strolling peacefully in the warm air & we went to a very agreeable pub that was full but not too full & wonderful photos on the wall, no carpet, a wooden floor – the only thing missing was smoke I still can’t take smoke free pubs seriously but I know I am in a minority – probably of one. Then back to Southampton & home. SIGH!
