Today marks one month since I was diagnosed with Syringomyelia. Many aspects of my life have been affected - either needing modification or lost to me entirely. It has been an emotional, mental, and physical roller coaster and I know it is by no means over. Everyone has been amazing in helping me through the transition thus far. I am so lucky to have such caring, patient, and loving people in my life. There have been a few who have stood out, and I want to thank them for all they have done and continue to do to help me adjust to a new normal: My parents and family, who words cannot describe how wonderful they are (Jim, Cynthia); Carol, the best roommate and friend a girl could possibly dream of; Tory, my lab-mate who puts up with my venting while at work; Derek (my advisor) and Jennifer Briggs for all of their continued support and help, not only this month but since I arrived at Yale 3 years ago; the entire Geology and Geophysics Department and my GPSCY family (you know who you are); John aka Muscles for helping to carry heavy things and just being a good friend; Oscar Fuzzy Butt Little Man Jackson, the best cuddler and fuzzy friend ever; and finally, everyone at Elm City Wellness who has helped relieve both my pain and stress through the excellent and personal care they provide. Thank you - I couldnt have made it without you.
