Today marks the 70th anniversary of the Hartford Circus fire that claimed 168 lives, one in particular, Frank Bradley (and his wife Helen). Frank Bradley was a charter member of our Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company. The birth of our Fire Company was shortly followed by the untimely and tragic death of one of its newest members. Today, the Fire Company will attend this anniversary at the Circus Fire Memorial behind the Wish School on Barbour Street in Hartford. For those who may not know, the Memorial in front of the Main Station in Simsbury is named after Frank Bradley, the Fire Companys first firefighter to pass away, in honor of all of our deceased members.
