Today marks the first day of my 30th year of teaching. I have taught students with learning disabilities for the entire time. I have seen many changes in the framework of education...some have been good and some....well, some leave me wondering when the last time a lawmaker was in the classroom to see the real life struggles students and educators are facing today. In the end, it is the child for whom I do my job everyday.... Not the lawmakers....not a test score. I have always held high expectations for my students and I always will. But I also have their emotions and self confidence in my hands.... And that is much more important. As we start this new year I pray for God to direct us all with wisdom and the ability to see through the eyes of the child. Have a great year everyone!
