Today members of parliament will continue to represent the people who voted for them by asking questions that are in the mind of the people BOTSWANA NATIONAL ASSEMBLY - ORDER PAPER (WEDNESDAY 3RD DECEMBER, 2014) QUESTIONS MR. H. G. NKAIGWA, MP. (GABORONE NORTH): To ask the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development if he is aware that Gaborone City Council spent over P2.4 million in the construction of a small park in Gaborone South (Naledi Central) and that it was observed that the price for the construction of the park was over- priced; if so:- (i) what has been done to address this anomaly; and (ii) what action was taken against the perpetrators. MR. N. L. S. M. SALAKAE, MP. (GHANZI NORTH): To ask the Minister of Lands and Housing to state the different types of land tenure in the Ghanzi North Constituency and the proportionality. MR. A. S. KESUPILE, MP. (KANYE SOUTH): To ask the Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration to state:- (i) the conditions for providing a disability exemption identity card to a person with disability; (ii) services that can be accessed through the use of this card; and (iii) the number of people presently in possession of these cards. MR. N. S. L. M. SALAKAE, MP. (GHANZI NORTH): To ask the Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism if he is aware that two of the three judges in the Roy Sesana case ruled that the refusal to issue special game licenses to subsistence hunters in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve was a violation of their right to life under the Constitution; if so:- (i) why are the applicants still not allowed to hunt in the reserve and do not receive food rations; and (ii) how are they expected to feed themselves should they want to exercise their right to live in the reserve as per the Court’s ruling. MR. A. S. KESUPILE, MP. (KANYE SOUTH): To ask the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development to state:- (i) efforts made to assist the farmers of the poor communities of Tsonyane and Betesankwe in the Southern District whose livestock is denied water from boreholes which are now under the Water Utilities Corporation; (ii) the status of Betesankwe to be recognised as a settlement and state the initial development due for the village in the 2015/2016 Financial Year; and (iii) the total amount estimated for such developments. MR. A. S. KESUPILE, MP. (KANYE SOUTH): To ask the Minister of Agriculture to state improvements in favour of this current ploughing season in view of recurring complaints about:- (i) failure to get Government tractors due to the restrictive 20km radius from the service centre; (ii) failure of some poor farmers to plough due to advance payment required by private tractor owners; (iii) complaints that the Integrated Support Programme Arable Agricultural Development (ISPAAD) rates reviewed in 2012 are no longer relevant and need to be increased substantially; and (iv) complaints that the buying price for “ thobo ya rona ” by the Botswana Marketing Board is too low. 14. MR. H. G. NKAIGWA, MP. (GABORONE NORTH): To ask the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development if he is aware that most of the classrooms at Tsogang and Tsholofelo Primary Schools in Gaborone North Constituency have pot holes and are leaking; if so, what plans are in place to address this challenge.
