Regardless of what youre trying to convince yourself, the answer is most definitely I would melt into the floor. This is precisely what happened to me when I first discovered Sky Ferreira. While many artists on this list so far have appealed primarily to a niche audience, Sky Ferreira has arguably formed a bridge between the commercial and the underground with her pop vocals, heroin-chic appearance, and electronic stylings. Miley Cyrus is an avid fan of hers, yet artists like MK and Twin shadow have remixed her tracks. When brostep was (unfortunately) popular, many brostep apologists argued that brostep could potentially create some sort of a peninsula between the overground and the underground. This proved to not be the case, as many brostep aficionados either got old and became their parents, or got disenfranchised with dance music altogether. I think that artists like Sky Ferreira, on the other hand, have demonstrated a far superior capacity to actually fulfill this function. They simultaneously captivate the underground and the overground, and when the two meet, the result is an explosion of unicorn blood, artistically crafted upper-lips, and light hair black roots dark eyebrows. #popweek
