Today, one of the trainers at my gym was teasing me about my lack of appreciation for his music, and I only use that word because I am extremely generous. :) But, seriously, with the artists I grew up listening to, and the ones I am privileged to know these days, it is difficult to settle for anything less than, at the very least, true artistic authenticity and integrity. I hope I wont offend anyone when I say that the vapid lyrics found in some of todays most popular music doesnt resonate in my heart nor my brain (thank goodness!). I came home and listened to Jason Isbells Southeastern record, again, to be reminded that there are some truly authentic artists making music, today. Give him some love -- hes nominated in a lot of categories at the Americana Music Awards.
