Today saw the first time that Sunbury SES did not have volunteer - TopicsExpress

Today saw the first time that Sunbury SES did not have volunteer search crews on deployment since Wednesday last week. This means that Sunbury SES has had active search & Rescue operations for almost a week. Our people have had long, tiring, mentally exhausting and heartbreaking days doing all they can to help others in need. On top of maintaining our vital response responsibilities here at home in Storm and flood response, Rescue, inter agency assistance and much more, Sunbury SES has had strong representation at multiple search operations across the northern and western suburbs. This is an effort that the Sunbury community can be proud of our SES is doing its bit. Search & Rescue is a core capability that SES members train in regularly; it is a service that the SES is proud to provide the people of Victoria along with the search co-coordinator Victoria Police. I would like to commend several of our members who have taken multiple days off work and away from family to assist in the searches. Their efforts and those of all of our members have been an example of the generosity and compassion shown by members of our SES. Our work is not glorious, it is not clean, dry, or easy and it takes its toll on those who see what we see; nor does it gain the attention of the media and the public, it is however no less vital, no less important. Thank you to the volunteers of Sunbury SES, for your efforts over this last week have shown that we do live up to our motto: Sunbury SES | For Our Community. Thanks again Jarrod Bell Media & Community Officer
