Today seems like a good day to celebrate any woman who has ever been in an abusive relationship and not only lived to tell her story but who had the incredible courage it takes to walk away from her abuser. Whether it be verbal, emotional or physical...abuse is abuse. No matter how long you stayed, the important thing is that you left and for that you are worth celebrating! To take control of your own life again and to take a stand against your abuser, letting them know that they no longer have a hold on you....I applaud you! No one can understand how hard it can be to walk away from a relationship like this until theyve been in one. I have been there and although it took 5 years to muster up the courage to leave the person I loved and who said he loved me....and to finally start believing in myself again...I did it. My life is going in a direction I never would have thought possible a year ago and I know that if I can do it SO CAN YOU! If you are a woman currently in such a relationship please know YOU ARE WORTH SO MUCH MORE!! You deserve to be loved the right way by a REAL MAN who recognizes your worth. The kind of relationship where TRUST and LOYALTY are freely given and APOLOGIES count for something. Love is NOT supposed to hurt and crying yourself to sleep at night is not the result of a loving relationship. If you dont break the cycle NOW you are giving them permission to continue to mistreat you and by staying you are showing them that you accept their abuse.
