Today the Kai/Lau ohana laid to rest a pet like no other. Shaggie - TopicsExpress

Today the Kai/Lau ohana laid to rest a pet like no other. Shaggie was released from his earthly form to venture to the rainbow bridge. This is my eulogy paying tribute to a treasured four legged friend: The urban dictionary defines shaggy as long and unkempt hair or fur. Shaggie, this may have been true of your physical appearance throughout a good portion of your life for the stories that preceded your adoption described a history of abuse, neglect, and hunger. Rest assured Shaggie that from day one in our family you were loved and cherished. Everyone loved your gentle manner and kind demeanor. Never fighting over the sleeping spot in Grandmas room-even if you were there first. Eating very quickly so Kiki wouldnt shove you over so she could indulge in your portion of food. Lastly, tolerating all the playful-and I am sure irritating-nips from Madison as you played with your friend all day long on the back porch of your favorite grandmothers home. So Shaggie despite the fact that you came to the Lau/Kai ohana by default, it was our privilege to have been your keeper - even for for a short six years. We will miss your circle dance and high pitched bark but mostly we will share smiles at the memory of your singing howl!! You were a gem and sometimes what life dishes out just isnt fair. Mourning will be difficult as it usually is with loss however we shall strive to dwell on the special Shaggie moments you left us with. Now my dear four legged friend go to the rainbow bridge where you will find food and water and warm spring weather. There will be no more pain from that invasive and cruel growth. Enjoy carefree days with all the others that have gone before you and someday we will be united at the rainbow bridge. Here is a picture of Shaggie in 2008. The other is a picture of our buddy at his Celebration of Life dinner on 10-3-2014.
