Today there are two happy and memorable events in my life. But unfortunately I will miss out both. One is a part of my life saving (part of treatment) and other one is my life partner’s one of the greatest life achievement event. Today is the day my beloved sister Manjju is donating her stem cell to me. It will be harvested in the Hackensack UMC Cancer center and processed and kept in the freezer for transplant it to me on 27th of this month. Thanks for Manjju for taking a lot of pain to prepare herself and donate the stem cell to me. I can very well understand the pain she is undergoing now. She has been taking Neupogon (a medication that stimulates bone to produce more bone marrow and stem cells) - twice a day, which gave her intense pain. I was taking it when my counts were down. So I know the intensity of her pain. Thanks Manjju for taking so much concern, bearing so much pain, and loving me so much to get me back to normal life. May god bless you abundantly! Today is the day that my wife Nessy is graduating from Rutgers State University Masters in Nursing (MSN). It is indeed a great day for us! Only sad thing is that Manjju and I will be missed that auspicious moment in her life. I wish her and congratulate her for her great achievement in life! Exactly one year ago, when I graduated from UMDNJ we had a big party in our back yard. That day, Nessy expressed me about her desire to have a great party or a get together for her Graduation too. But to the bottom of my heart I sincerely apologize for not making it an event. Of course she honestly deserves a great party because she had to undergo several crises throughout her program. When she started her program she had a major kidney surgery that messed up the continuity of flow in her course which she some have managed it latter. She did her entire course even after doing a full time job position and taking care of Irene and me. Finally in her last semester (from September 2013 – January 2014) I fell in sick. It was in the mid of October that I started getting all sorts of sickness and finally I was diagnosed with Leukemia in November and decided to go for Chemotherapy on November 29th onwards. On top of that she became pregnant in the same month. Now her due is on July 26th. Right from her first trimester until today she has to take care of me in all the matters. I thank god that I have lot of very good and truly honest friends also to help her in all the time. I can imagine her mental status how much tension was she holding herself with these entire crisis that could have caused through my sickness and her pregnancy. I completely stopped driving car right from November 2013 onwards. Since then she is my driver too. Of course, my dear friends Sajimon, Shijimon, Linto, Manoj and many others… also helped me taking in to hospital and home back and forth. We never expected the present condition of Bone Marrow Transplant before while I started my treatment with chemotherapy and thereby delay in my entire treatment. It is in a couple of months before only we came to the need of the present condition. Once we came to know that it is an inevitable need, and I was just afraid of her growing tummy and thought how she could manage to drive in future even though my great friends would be helping hands too. By the grace of God the transplant process are getting ready and thus Manjju became the donor. Another great help was my brother Romy got visa as a care giver and landed here on 14th May. He will be here with me for 6 months. That is indeed a great help! He will be driving the car sooner and is already taking care of me. I specially thank Romy and his wife Lucy for their whole hearted support to me. I also thank Edwin (Kannan) and Aviryl (Neelu) for sacrificing themselves and sending their achachen to USA to take care of me. Nessy was initially hesitating to go for the graduation ceremony in absence me. But I wanted her to go for it as it is a very important event in her life. My friends and Manjju had also encouraged her to go the convocation ceremony and my friends also accompanied her for the convocation hall. Thanks to Fr. Matthew Kunnath for calling her yesterday and giving her encouraging words. Thanks to Sajimon Antony, Sheena Sajimon, and Blessy Shijimon Matthew for attending the function. Romy had a delighting experience to attend this function. Irene had already called off her day from school and got sanctioned a week before which we never knew. Nessy’s mother also could attend the function. Hats of Nessy for your great achievement! I am so proud of you! Even though I could not attend the function my mind was around you and my imagination was at the ambiance of the convocation hall! I imagined that you are being awarded your certificate by the chief guest! Thank you Nessy, May god blesses our family!
