Today was a busy day at work. I like to stay busy. I really enjoy comforting my patients and calming their fears. I had a patient today that truly touched my heart. She came during a busy time and I needed to move on to the next patient. Something told me to slow down and Listen. I am so glad I did. She needed me to listen. She poured her heart out to me, shared her fears and anxieties with me. As she talked , she would cry and I could see her hurting. She told me that besides her therapist she hasnt opened up to anyone in three years. Why did she choose me, her nurse? I dont know the answer. I do feel that God placed her In my hands to encourage her and let her know I care. People have burdens, we must slow down and listen sometimes. Listen to why they hurt. She told me she didnt share things with her closest friend for fear they wouldnt understand or think badly of her. I was very compassionate and felt honored she shared with me. This is the reason I love nursing. The reason that a busy, hectic day becomes a blessing. I apologize to my fellow nurses that had take care of extra patients during the time I was talking with this patient
