Today was a day of MANY malfunctions. It started out innocently enough. After playing for services at First Pres in Albion, I went over to the college for voice lessons. #1) Goodrich Tower elevator died on us again. (I guess they are waiting until it completely breaks down and someone is trapped or injured before they fix it.) #2) I was listening to a book on tape while I cleaned up from lunch, and the tape pulled a loop and was tangled up. I had to cut it out. Meanwhile I had to change a light bulb; at least I thought that was the problem, which led to #3) have to get a new three-way socket for a lamp this week. THEN- #4) the power went out in Marshall, which it very rarely does in the city limits anyway. Of course I do not have a gas stove, so I was out of luck for hot food. I went in search later on; there were many tree branches in the driveway, and the area with McDonalds, Arbys, Pizza Hut, Yin Hai, etc. was all dark. I tried Hungry Howies, which had power, but they had given up and sent everyone home before the power came back on. Charlies in downtown Marshall had power, so I went in and ordered a jalapeno burger and fries to go. Naturally the power went out again while I was there, but thankfully the burger finished cooking and I had enough cash to pay, since of course the credit card machine was down as well. So far we have power back in my neighborhood. Yay!
