Today was a good day. I stepped out into a cool morning and light - TopicsExpress

Today was a good day. I stepped out into a cool morning and light rain – very light, hardly enough to call rain. But we had a wonderful rainstorm last night, and the sky this morning was so beautiful! Clouds of all types, shapes, and sizes. And their colors ranged from bright white to steel gray with a bit of gold and pink thrown in. As I turned the first corner, I was treated to the sight of a heron leisurely flying toward the lake. When I turned the corner toward the big gazebo, I was stopped in my tracks by the sight of part of a glorious rainbow directly ahead of me, emerging from and disappearing back into a bank of white and gray clouds. When I was even with the gazebo, I looked to my left and saw the rest of the rainbow coming out of the cloud bank and visible all the way down to the rooftops! It was magnificent. All of the colors were clearly discernible, bright and vibrant. I almost didn’t want to continue my walk because at the next corner I would have to turn my back on it. I did continue but stopped numerous times just to see whether it was still there. I was so focused on it that, once again, I startled a heron by my noisy footsteps. Coming back from the little gazebo, I caught sight of something moving along a lawn across the street. I thought it might be a cat, but when I got closer, I realized it was a bunny – a BIG brown bunny. And I thought, Silly rabbit; what are you doing over there? You belong on this side by the woods! I enjoyed the rainbow almost all the way home, and when I reached my driveway, it was still clearly visible. What a treat for today. And I would have missed it had I let the light rain stop me from taking my walk. The words of Hosea 6:3 ran through my mind as I walked through the rain: “So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD. His going forth is as certain as the dawn; and He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain watering the earth.” This is such a wonderful assurance of the Lord’s presence and working in our lives. In seeking Him, we will find refreshment and nourishment for our souls and beauty even in times of trials. As we go into a Happy New Day, let us press on to know the Lord.
