Today was a major up and down day! It started off with me not feeling so hot, then I got an email telling me that I cant take my SATs at the designated testing center (even though we spent over a YEAR getting all of our ducks in a row with the College Board) because Im legally blind and have to have a CCTV to see any of the test questions. So that kind of sucks, but thankfully I have people who are advocating for me, so hopefully it will be sorted out. Then as my vision specialist/teacher was here today and we were doing tests and discussing the sucky SAT situation, I got a phone call that turned my day around. After the National Summit in Dallas, I was so inspired that I decided I wasnt doing enough. I was connected to the National Campus Relay For Life and Colleges Against Cancer Leadership. The phone call I received was from ACS, and I was offered a new volunteer position. Soooo.....I have accepted this position and I will now be serving with the West Campus Leadership Team, as the Regional Survivor/Caregiver Engagement Chair, representing the Great West, High Plains and California Divisions. I will be working with Relay For Life and CAC (Colleges Against Cancer) Chapters for both College and High School events, as well as Youth Engagement at Community Relays. I cannot WAIT to be a part of this! Young people are the future of Relay, and not enough of them are involved. Curing cancer will require ALL generations to work together. In 2015, Relay For Life is #30YearsStrong and we are GOING to make this cancers LAST century!
