Today was a mix of emotions. First I attended a funeral for my friends son. Dewanna Penix-Hampton lost her 16 yr old to the flu, it went into pneumonia over night. I met her when pregnant with Kaileigh. My dog ran away a few blocks to her. She was a pregnant red head. Her daughter was born 2 weeks after Kaileigh, still born and full term. She lost a son also later on. I lost Brian in 1992, we had that bond mothers who lost babies have. Seeing a friend bury her kids is horrible. her ex hubby lost his father one month before. The poor family. Then after funeral, I went to the Davis Shai House to prep for the open house. It was a great night! Jon Martens boss and a coworker showed up, saw lots of friends, volunteers and made new friends. But the highlight was looking up and seeing a friend from junior and senior high walking down the ramp! Kim Williamson Wood is from Dayton! Have not seen her in a very, very long time! Caught up on facebook but had not seen her! Totally made my night! We are planning a hockey night out soon too! Jons village was a hit. People stayed in the room for a long time. One couple and college age son spent almost an hour in there. A little 5 yr old, about 45 minutes! Tons of questions, met other collectors and were able to share so much with people. I was so proud to be Jons girl tonight. In my old town, in my special house... Tonight I was just the girlfriend of the collector/expert! I love this man even more if that is even possible! The looks on the kids faces and the joy he brought to families was amazing.
