Today was a pretty gentle day for us as we headed north out of Winnipeg - a short 50km in warm (0C) temperatures (though the wind chill did make it seem like -6c apparently - still pretty warm considering we imagined that would be around -25 at least this time of year here!). We are still getting used to the weight of the bikes and the increased traction on the ground so we were going quite slowly even though the terrain is completely flat. I guess around 13/14 kmph. =0AWe didnt want to overdo it right at the beginning of the expedition so we kept going until a couple of hours before dark. When we stopped at a gas station for a coffee we had the luck to bump into a guy called Gerry who said we could camp in his yard. Then he said actually no problem for us to stay in his guest room. Quite fortuitous really! Incredibly nice and generous man!update from north of winnipeg
