Today was a rather rainy day so I decided to play a chess tournament in a Normandy village. I was lucky, for there were no professionnal chess players in this tournament and I was seeded No. 2, out of 48 players. Do you know that feeling when youre in a competition and you know that you can win it because almost all the other players are weaker than you? I call that: feeling like a shark in a sea full of passengers from a wrecked ship :-) Actually there were 2 sharks: Philippe Glod (rated 2180 in rapid chess) and me (rated 2140 in rapid chess). In the 4th round Philippe and I, we drawed the game and we won all the other games. So, we finished tied for first and we shared the 1st and 2nd place prizes. I like to win small chess tournaments :-) Mon premier petit tournoi déchecs en 2014: un ptit tournoi dans un ptit village de Normandie où jétais tête de série n°2. Je finis 1er ex-æquo du tournoi avec 6.5 points sur 7 points (sur 7 parties). Je bats 3 joueurs locaux dans les 3 premières rondes, à la 4ème ronde je rencontre la tête de série n°1 (Philippe Glod 2158 fide, 2180 en rapide, du club du Vesinet) et je fais match nul contre lui (bien que je laie dominé pendant la partie), dans les trois dernières rondes je fais la peau à trois autres locaux :-) Résultat final: 1er ex-æquo avec Philippe Glod. Ça fait du bien de gagner :-) Dans ce genre de tournois modestes, je me sens comme un requin dans une plage pour colonie de vacances (sauf quaujourdhui il y avait deux requins) :-D
