Today was amazing in Manila... Team Bumi Wadah Foundation - TopicsExpress

Today was amazing in Manila... Team Bumi Wadah Foundation Philippines had lunch with Dr. Ted Herbosa, Philippine Undersecretary of Health. We discussed how to improve childbirth protocols for Gentle Optimal care of MotherBabies. Then, Dr Ted took us over to EAMC a big public hospital receiving 1,000 babies per month. The team watched a Yayasan Bumi Sehat water birth video. Soon we were working tougher to do a gentle, hands-off birth for a lovely third time Mom, Zhally. An hour after birth the Baby boys cord was still uncut! We did a completely physiological third stage, no pitocin and no pulling. The head OB Resident is keen to have every birth be this gentle. Already this health system BELIEVES in delayed umbilical cord severance and exclusive breastfeeding. Dr. Ted today climbed up on the OB table, where normally women must give birth. He said he had trouble breathing up there, with his feet in stirrups. Its not a good place to have a baby, we need to change the furniture for childbirth. Coming soon... photos. Magandang Gabi Phiippines... tomorrow I get to hug the families of Gentle Birth for the Philippines. Next stop: Baguio for Integrated Midwives Association of the Philippines, Inc. Congress. 1,500 BirthKeepers in one room... my idea of Heaven.
