Today was bigger than I expected. I went to work with Speero, who is a Middle School Special Education teacher. You guys know how much I love middle schoolers, so I was really looking forward to meeting the students. I visited three classrooms and had fun hearing about them and telling about life in America. It turns out, we have the same things, lol,…Facebook, friends, sports, music, family, food, love and a desire to make life better than yesterday. I made the mistake of taking out my phone for a group picture. Before I knew it, my phone was in the hands of the sweetest and cutest boy who stole my heart very quickly and started a selfie fest. Total chaos. Total fun! I tried to take him home with me! Naively, I thought I was just getting to meet the kids and teachers that Speero works with, but what really happened today was a divine appointment. I had no idea the impact of my visit until the end when I had the honor of meeting the principal, Mr. Sohil Haj, a Christian Arab. We sat for a visit about his life’s work. He has worked for 20+ years to build positive relationships between Arabs, Jews and Christians. He believes in helping others, living together in peace, fighting negative stereotypes against good Arab, Jewish and Christian peoples, and standing with Israel. At the end of our conversation, he summed it up by saying, “We thank God for your visit today so you can see not all Arabs are evil terrorists and for our students to see not all Americans are the cancer of the world.“ False ideologies are the real cancer. Yes, things are very serious here but He believes, and I agree, that we must continue to work to build peaceful and positive relationships. The Bible says that Love covers all and if He is lifted up, He will draw all men to Him through His love. Today was definitely a divine appointed day to further God’s agenda…to love thy neighbor as thyself. Lesson well learned today for all of us. May the ripple effect of today bring blessings to all of us, more people into the redeeming grace of Yeshua and ultimately glory to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Hallelujah, He is good!
