Today was last food community day of the month and we had some 35 families we helped; thats about three times the number we usually have at this point in the month and we are seeing continuing rise in numbers of new families seeking hunger help; our shelves are empty; our next food pickup is Tuesday; cone by about 9:30 Tuesday to help stock shelves; the food assistance program SNAP cuts go into effect Friday and as one woman said today she only gets 15 dollars on her card for the month anyway. and it will go down. We expect bigger numbers to keep coming. We are still trying to stay open going into the holidays: our monthly budget is $484 mortgage some $400 avg monthly utilities (both center and park) $150 office exp (phone internet tv copies supplies etc) and about $500 for property maintenance and $200 avg community partners program support and program expenses. No staff paid; all volunteer. this is barebones cut back budget as we have had our monthly contributors reduced by half due to movings death and shifts to other organizations. We have some $1150 monthly income from 2 regular contributions coming in now; pick up the rest as we can from one time donations from people off and on; so need to get another $1000 a month (100 giving $10 a month or one or two other big donors on the other end though we dont like relying on that few as we have seen we know people conditions change ) just to make up from what we have lost that enabled us to expand to doing all we now are. working on new grants too but those are usually for new projects. turleyok.blogspot to be a regular giver to our giveback place. and feel free to share. dont forget we more than anything need prayer and presence.
