Today was one of those moments that I am thankful to be a teacher and that I am blessed to be able to impact students. The moment when one of your sweet students collapses in your arms, sobbing because she, only a few hours prior, got devastating news about one of her siblings and thought she could make it through the school day...what do you do, you pick her up. You tell her how sorry you are, share the love of Jesus and be thankful you were there to catch her. As I packed her book bag for her because she was numb, I looked at her little tear stained face and prayed for her to have a supernatural peace. Parents see when teachers dont put grades online, they see when their kid makes their first B and even when the teacher fails to update their homework line, but they dont always see the compassion. They never see the hours we spend praying for these babies, the money we spend so one without will have a Christmas, the fear for what some of them have to go home to or the little moments that help define them later in life. Thats what makes the teacher, not the skill; but, the ability to see a childs need and meet it. Please keep this little one in your prayers. She definitely needs them.
