Today was our first all goose day here in Canada. We shot 33 in - TopicsExpress

Today was our first all goose day here in Canada. We shot 33 in what was once again some pretty intense hunting. I decided I hated my GoPro when it fell in my blind and I missed a shot at some geese when I rolled onto my stomach to pick it up. I then quickly forgave it and decided I loved it again when I figured out a way to mount it to a shotgun. After a quick test run I realized itd need some slight adjusting before its 100%, so tomorrow well see if we cant get some down the barrel shots. Dion (pretty much the coolest dude in Canada), invented a new goose call technique called the Single Lady. It has the power to make a male gooses wings go all Jello and bring him to the ground without firing a shot. In theory... hes still working on it. The other highlight of the hunt was seeing a midget sized goose decide to challenge my dad to a fist fight. Bad call Mr. Goose. Post hunt we went to a Canadian grocery store, at which point we realized Canadian people seem to be grateful were up here killing their geese. The 80 something year old man greeting people at the door asked if we were hunters. We said yes and he was like Kill all those mother F---ing geese! Kill em all! It was eye opening. I also learned a 24 pack of beer in Canada is $80! Yeah, glad I brought my own. PBR for days. Been snacking on Kinder Surprise eggs all day, which are super illegal in the US. Its over a $1,000 PER EGG fine if they catch you trying to smuggle them into the States. Despite my best brainstorming I have been unable to devise a way to do so that wont melt them. Lol. We played fetch with Dions dog Java, made a huge batch of delicious goose jerky, and scouted far beyond anywhere weve hunted this year. We found some big numbers, but its going to be an even earlier morning than today due to the added drive time. Should be a good hunt, I mean theres going to be GoPros on shotguns, so how can it not be? Well sub-freezing temperatures could put a damper on the hunt, but I have layers I havent even unpacked yet, so bring it Canada. Todays song was originally a punk song by No Use For a Name. When Tony Sly re-recorded the song on an acoustic album with Lagwagons Joey Cape, it really showed its merit as a meaningful song about someone who was simply unable to put his feelings into words, but tries anyway. After Tonys death the song took on a new meaning to a lot of people, but itll always be that heartfelt love song to me.
