Today was the finale for Jim Gertmenian as Plymouth Congregational - TopicsExpress

Today was the finale for Jim Gertmenian as Plymouth Congregational Churchs Senior Minister. Its been a great 18 years for him, for the church, for all. In his honor: Oh, the words and the deeds of Gertmenian, Who orates like an ancient Athenian, Who travels our roads And shoulders our loads Like Simon the kindly Cyrenian! Whenever he enters the pulpit, There’s a breath of fresh air, and we gulp it. Like his sermons, his hymns Are pure music, for Jim’s The conductor, and we are the full pit. Like a race car, his drive is inspiring; Now he’s off, all his cylinders firing— But as snow requires winter rims, Churches need interims; That’s why they call it re-tiring. (Are puns about cars hard to take? They’re a *gas*! Come on, give me a brake! My versified votive Has one auto-motive: To offer up praise for his sake.) Yes, he’s off, and our prospects are bleak; Solutions aren’t simple to seek. What can we do? We’ve got a canoe, But we’re up the proverbial creek. For like diamonds atop a tiara, Or like marble from ancient Carrara, There shines on his face The soul of this place. We will miss you, dear Jim; sayonara.
