Today was the last straw. In a completely unrelated forum, it was implied that: - I became a chief officer in the fire department because I was an arsonist. - I am an advocate for smart-meters because I want more people to become sick so we can better justify more tax income to build a bigger firehall. Its written in the prose of a slightly unstable person, is completely anonymous, and more that a bit creepy. Taken on its own merit, Id normally just laugh and move on. However, it has come on the heels of several other incidents and has made me realize that I just dont have the stomach for the nasty stuff that some people say when one is a public figure. The incidents over the last 48 hours have left me a bit rattled and unable to focus at work. For that reason, and the increasing difficulty Im having trying to run a growing business and fit everything in, I wont be standing as Deputy Chief at the end of this years term. Im now looking for a new DJ name as Deputy Doug would be inappropriate and D-Fresh is already taken.
