Today was veteran writer Jeff Klinkenbergs last day at the Tampa Bay Times. When he announced that he would be leaving on Facebook just a few weeks ago, heres what he wrote, As you know, these are tough days for newspapers, including the Times, so I accepted a buyout today. My last day as a full-timer will be Oct. 10. Im 65, Im on Medicare, Ive got money in the bank and Im married to the astonishing Susan King. So Im going to do okay. If business arrangements can be worked out, Ill continue to write some Real Florida essays for the paper. If things dont work out, Ill be freelancing elsewhere. In the meantime, look on Facebook for further details. Its been a great run -- and I have to tell you this: Nobody has been blessed with so many wonderful colleagues and readers. Youve provided the energy for what Ive done for so long. I love you.
