Today we celebrate and pay tribute to the Veterans of our armed forces..... which, if you didnt know originally signified the signing of the armistice of the war to end all wars on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. It comes down to saying thanks to all those who served - and while I never did, I try to do my part. My D-Day presentation on the ship is to honor my hero, Great Uncle Morton Waitzman, who stormed Omaha Beach in Normandy, France during the early morning hours of June 6th, 1944 (and is just now turning 91 years old!). And today I had the privilege, through my wife who runs entertainment and activities for a luxury assisted living facility in the Miami area, of taking a large group of Veterans from both WW2 and Korea to a V-Day parade to acknowledge their sacrifices. Thousands of appreciative people lined the streets to say thanks....as I grabbed the wheelchair of Colonol Arnold Tucker and led him about 2 miles around town. Although at the end I couldnt feel my feet, and was sweating worse than Bill Clinton at a high school pep rally, it was worth every second. Anyway, thanks to all who have ever served.... Pics below of the parade and picnic afterwards. 3 weeks left of vacation before I am back out to sea! Catch you all on the flipside! Bye for now! J/BS
