Today we had a great day. Lovely cuddles while sleeping beautifully. Malins little mouth was doing all sorts of shapes and there were definitely a couple of smiles in there, not that he knew what he was doing. And then after a feed, he opened up his eyes and spent half an hour looking at the world. No breast feeding today as he was sleeping at feed times, hopefully tomorrow. Our nurse today tried a slightly different strategy with his cpap. Rather than dropping the pressure to the least he can cope with and same with the oxygen, she had the pressure slightly higher and the oxygen on so that he wasnt working so hard. Im sure that is why he had the energy to keep his eyes open that long, like a normal baby. Hes only ever done it for short periods at s time before, then slept. I guess Id sleep all the time if I didnt get enough oxygen either. Malins iv line is out, so back in real clothes again, which is awesome. His little hands still like to be up near his face, and ideally wrapped around a line or tube, even when fast asleep.
