Today we parted on the runaway as you departed into a world of turmoil, conflict and chaos. I could not betray the thought of being proud and worried in letting you join this profession of arms and then be suddenly whisked away to serve in a war torn country in joining the universal crusade for peace. Though you stand proud today as a man forging a way forward in shaping your own destiny, I will always look at you as that little boy always trying to man up to his ageing fathers legacy. I never could say thank you for standing by me in our most trying moments and for all youve done or at least shed a tear of this heart wrenching experience of saying goodbye.., for I could not betray my pride of being a man showing no emotions, but the face of a warrior who has fought his battles and won many victories. I had to maintain my face as the courageous and fearless father you always looked up, to whose ethos was his duty first and willingness to fight and die for his country. But alas!! Age catches up and the fearless heart becomes old and soft as I try to hide the occasional tear each time my mind wanders over to you. I begin to question my decision in pushing you into this profession. Now I ask my self whether to be proud or worried for you and the unknown that beckons you towards it. No longer am I the fearless and courageous warrior but a concerned father, whose heart is filled with pain longing for your safe return back home. This is the meaning of life son.., to grow up and fight your own battles. This is where your life begins and mine ends. This is where you begin to take ownership of your life and everything you can influence around you. This is where you stand up and be counted for your decisions and actions. So muster up all your life time experiences you can remember and pave your new lifes journey forward. So be strong in all you do. Put God first in your life and walk with HIM always. Always remember that a prayer is a song of the righteous. So pray often and seek HIM diligently and be faithful in all your doings. Search yourself and learn to take on the courage of Joshua, the integrity of Job and the wisdom of Solomon; in all you do learn to humble yourself before everything and hate no man. always remember that to lead is to serve and to serve is to lead. Whatever you do, do it with honour. Never try and prove your courage to any man because Courage is not about the absence of Fear, but Courage is fulfilling the integrity of your responsibility without discrimination Go with God Always and Return with Honour.
