Today,we pay homage to the fallen heroes of 6 June 1960 kwintaba yaseNgquza; e Flagstaff BTW Bizana and Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape. Eastern Cape Premier Phumulo Masualle will pay tribute to these heroes on the occasion of the 54 th Anniversary of the Ngquza Hill Massacre. Today we mourn besides isizwe samaMpondo, sikaFaku; Ngqungqushe, Thahla, E sika Ndayeni ka Chithwayo, kaKhonjwayo, ka Bala, kaCabe Ka Gangatha, ka Mqikela.ka Mpondombini, ka Ziqelekazi, ooHlamba ngobu bende, AmaMpondo ka Dakhile, ka Ndamase, siyokukhahlelukuZanozuko Sigcawu was Qawukeni, komkhulu! We travel to the rural hinterland of Ngquza,To Salute Those That Fell In An Ancestral land that should have been a No- Fly Zone .This tragedy claimed the lives of 11 AmaMpondo through Aerial shootings from a Denel manufactured military helicopter( Impi ka Nonkqulwane) that mowed those heroes down , arrested more than 53 who were later hanged between 1962 and 1963 at Pretoria Central Prison. Those that evaded arrest and escaped death went on together with the heroes of the Sekhukhune Peasant Revolt of 1958, to be the first combatants for that advanced guard of our Glorious Army Umkhonto Wesizwe,. We do so informed by nothing other than to Declare to the World, that their Death was not in vain, that their Blood like that of their heroic Son,Solomon Mahlangu whose Blood nourished the tree that bore the Fruit of Freedom. We may have heard of the Bullhoek Massacre, the Sekhukhune land Rebellion, the Battle of Isandlwana, Sharpeville,Langa, Uitenhage and Bisho Massacre, even Marikana post 94, but not much is captured in our National Collective Memory. Ingquza Hill Massacre deserves its Rightful Place and Honour in the annals of our History about We dare not Forget. We dare not Fail you!
