Today we remember St. Martin de Porres, who reminds us that even if we are not born into positions of wealth or power, that God can use us to be very influential in the matters that concern Him the most, catholicexchange/st-martin-de-porres . Serving as a housekeeper and almoner (begger) for the Dominicans, he so impressed the Order that they made him the black man to become a full Dominican. Not stopping there, St. Martin continued to serve the poor and sick around him, including animals. He was venerated from the time of his death and many miracles surrounded him during his life and after his death.
