Today we remember the victims of the destruction of Smyrna (now called Izmir) which was set on fire on September 13, 1922 by the Turkish army after their occupation of the city four days earlier at the culmination of the Greco-Turkish War of 1919-1922. The Greek and Armenian residents and refugees faced widespread massacres carried out by Turkish forces followed by a campaign of arson to destroy all of the Christian sections of the city. May the memory of those martyred in this Turkish crime against humanity be eternal. More info at - martyrsofanatolia.org
