Today we took the ferry from the Cape over to Marthas Vineyard. In Edgartown we saw a lighthouse in the distance. I skipped lunch to hike out to the lighthouse and up in it to the top. Couldnt talk anyone into going so braved it on my own. After Edgartown we headed to Oak Bluffs where we got to visit a Methodist Tabernacle and a bunch of Gingerbread houses built in1860, as a place where the Methodist Parish would go for a summer retreat to worship. If I understood it correctly the land was owned by the church, and members in good standing with the church came for a retreat in the summers. Prior to 1860 they would pitch tents around the tabernacle. Eventually the church members made wooden floors to pitch their tents on and tents were replaced by gingerbread houses,
