Today we used the tractor, beastly truck, and the Brush Grubbers we bought to pull all the sapling trees that were encroaching on the buildings. We were able to use the tractor bucket and reversing for all of them except the one which growing under the mudroom of the main house. That one was big, ~2-3 inches at the root base, and the tractor didnt have enough umph on the bucket lift to pull it out. Driving backwards just ended up spinning the tires in the gravel. We ended up hooking it to the ball hitch on the truck and going 4wd low 1st. I drove off, and I couldnt tell if the truck had pulled it, or if the grubber had slipped off, but it pulled it right out. The truck didnt even notice it was there.
