Today we went to another service for another teenager. It was our 3rd one in three weeks. Although we had heard about him from mutual friends, We met Joshua and his family when Dale went down to the PIC. Unbeknownst to us, Dale was Joshuas CIT this past summer (we were never able to ask Dale if he knew Josh because by the time we could, Dale was sedated-we found out after Dale had passed). Leigh and Andy, Joshs parents were such a source of comfort down in the PICU. You see, they had been down the intubation route before. Leigh comforted by Nancy saying that intubation can be ok. It can allow the body to rest for a while, and she was right. It was so nice to have someone who had been down this route before. We felt safe, we felt that we had someone who completely understood the fears. And the day Dale was brought home Leigh and Nancy sobbed in each others arms. One mother to another. Its been a rough few weeks. Matt passed away on the 16th, Dale on the 26th and Joshua on the 6th. We didnt exactly think we would be going to a service every week for 3 weeks, and the one in the middle was for our Dale. Over it. Thanks for letting me just write it out. And thanks to those of you that we have heard are planning on going to the carwash tomorrow for Dale (see last post). Pray more, worry less, live and love freer
