Today we were honored to present my uncle Juan Gallegos with the Hispano Round Table of New Mexico Medal of Valor and Honor. My uncle Juan was a highly decorated US Marine during the brutal and bloodiest of all WWII Battles The Battle of the Bulge. This was the final battle of WWII and the US won this battle decisively. Hitler and his Nazis lost over 20,000 soldiers in this battle alone with over 69,000 injured. The US lost over 10,000 soldiers in this battle and thousands more injured. The Battle ran from December of 1944 - January of 1945. My uncle Juan was a US Marine in this historical victory and led the fight to defeat Nazi Germany during WWII. I had 5 uncles who fought in combat during WWII plus my father. One uncle, Rufino Gallegos was killed in battle near Guam and buried at sea. Uncle Juan will soon turn 90 years old. Nothing but love and respect for my uncle and all who served.
