Today we were off to Africa in Artistic Journeys: Around the World in Five Days summer camp. We did a little more prep work, creating portfolios to hold our artwork from the week. Then we did drawings of safari animals in our journals. Next, we created masks using all sorts of fun materials ... only rule, it had to be really elaborate! Next, we designed and created our own Andinkra stamps (we are going to use them on t-shirts tomorrow). We finished the day making our own set of hieroglyphics and creating drawings of our names in our new letters. For a few who finished early, they worked on making paper strips into Kente cloths. Another really, really busy day! In the afternoon, they got to work with Ms. Leigh making pinch objects out of clay and played some more theater games with Mr. Marquise. Where are we off to next?
