Today we were pleased to welcome FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai to Buffalo, where he announced his intentions to vote to eliminate FCC support for sports blackouts. This announcement adds important momentum toward the efforts to end sports blackouts once and for all. Local sports fans back their hometown teams through support and tax dollars and deserve to be able to see games broadcast on local television. I am thankful for FCC Commissioner Pai’s support and hopeful that the rest of the Commission and the NFL will also act to end the outdated policy of sports blackouts.
