Today while eating my Jack in the Box egg rolls, I spotted an old man and his wife pull up and slowly get out of their old car with a single American flag protruding from the window. The man who was getting out was so hunched he was practically looking at the ground. There was a yammering group of teenage idiots next to the door not paying attention talking with the equally immature manager. As the old couple approached the door, I saw that he was a veteran. I got up and held the door open for them as he slowly pushed his walker past me. They were so shocked that I put down my food just to help them in. While I did it solely based on my respect towards older people, it really felt good seeing their faces as they walked by with surprise and appreciation.
