Today, with great joy, we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost and the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Holy Church. The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Holy Trinity Who proceeds from the Father only. He is the Giver of Life. He anointed and spoke through kings, prophets, and priests in the Old Testament and inspired the Holy Apostles and disciples in the New Testament. He is Inspirer of the Holy Scriptures. He guides and protects the Holy Church. He is the bond that unites us in the Body of Christ. He is active in every Mystery of the Church, as when He transforms a man and woman from two into one flesh in marriage. He gives us a variety of spiritual gifts to illumine and enlighten us on the path towards the Heavenly Kingdom. In short, He is our God, of one Divine Essence with the Father and the Son. Let us worship and exalt Him now and forever. Amen.
