Today would have been Malachis 11th birthday. For those of you who dont know, Patricia and I had to made the difficult choice to put Malachi down a few days ago due to an unknown illness that rapidly deteriorated his health, within three short weeks. Although I had prepared myself to make the decision to end his suffering if need be, I was not prepared for the emotions that followed as I stared into his eyes and watched his life quietly slip away. I dont know if it was relief or fear I saw in him as he passed but it tore me up. I got Malachi when he was just 7 weeks old. We were inseparable. He travelled with me went to work with me and followed me everywhere. He reluctantly became a living plaything for my girls and accepted this duty with a quiet tolerance. Now I feel as if I have lost my very shadow. Something so familiar and close is now simply gone. I feel as though I have lost a part of me. I know I will eventually get over losing my dear friend but I will never forget him. Thank you everyone for your kind words. Patricia and I appreciate them very much. Happy Birthday Malachi.
