Today you posted up dogs from the urgent death row list. I can personally vouch for one of the dogs on the list because I am the police officer who brought him to the shelter. His name is Perez and he is named after my partner. The city requires us to bring the animals we find there unless we can find a home for them otherwise. If I didnt already have a female dog at home that has to be an only dog in the house and a cat Perez would have come home with me. Let me tell you how we met. I receives a 911 call about a dog tied to a fence. Upon arrival I found sweet Perez tied with a short leash to a handrail on a set of step. According to passers by he had been there all day. He was scared out of his mind, but I wanted to show him I was his friend. I sat on the ground with him and spoke gently and softly. Calling him a good boy and telling him how handsome he was. I offered this poor boy food and water and he was instantly my new best buddy. He allowed me to reach out and touch him with a gentle wagging tail. He wanted love and affection. He let me cut the leash that tied him and for the first time in what I could assume to be a long time he walked and got to stretch his legs. To all of the police officers I introduced him to trying to find him a home he was sweet and affectionate. He loves his ears rubbed. Sadly, none of my coworkers could find room for him in their homes, so I had to take him to animal care. This big sweet boy happily rode in my car with his nose sniffing in the breeze of the open window. To the staff at animal care he was a perfect gentleman when they scanned him or a chip. I have been watching all week on their website in hopes to see his face with adopted next to it, but sadly today I see him on death row. I have seen you rescue many lost souls off of this list.
