Todays Bible Reading, Deuteronomy 30-31 30:17 “But if your heart turns away and you refuse to listen, and if you are drawn away to serve and worship other gods, 18 then I warn you now that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live a long, good life in the land you are crossing the Jordan to occupy. In Deuteronomy 28 God made a covenant with Israel that included blessings that they would receive if they obeyed its terms and as curses that would be placed on them if they disobeyed them. These chapters are a continuation of those instructions. God tells Israel again what will take place if they are disobedient and worship other Gods. A key word Id like to highlight is drawn. The Bible says in, James 1:13-14: 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, I am being tempted by God; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. These verses tell us that God does not tempt us nor can He be tempted with evil. But when we are tempted or drawn away into sin we are being lead astray by something we desire. The enemy does not bring us anything we do not like. He studies us in an effort to complete his mission on the earth; which is to kill, steal, and destroy. The enemy often draws us into sin using three things: the lust of our eyes, the lust of our flesh, and the pride of life. I encourage you today when the enemy comes to draw you away into sin, in an effort to bring you down a road of destruction through temptation; resist the devil and he will flee from you.
