From 1976 through March 11, 2014, the United States Patent and Trademark Office approved and issued… 112,365 U.S. Patents that reference ‘Bubbles’ in at least one of All Fields in the Patent Application. Wow! 7,044 U.S. Patents that reference ‘Bubbles’ in the Abstract summary of the Patent Application. 395 U.S. Patents that reference ‘Bubbles’ in the Title of the Patent Application. These U.S. Patents can be searched by keyword and read via the USPTO Patent Full-Text and Image Database patft.uspto.gov/netahtml/PTO/search-bool.html. Young discoverers enjoy exploring this database then trying to match patent(s) with real-world use(s), and in the process they learn. Patents from 1790 through 1975 are not searchable by keyword, which means there are more ‘Bubbles’ inventions across 186 years prior to 1976. Side note, we have the privilege of meeting college students seeking mentoring for their ideas and inventions, bubbles-related or not, but many have never heard of nor found this database resource.
