Todays Daily Reflection: Luke 5:1-11 Last April we celebrated the canonization of two great Popes, John XXIII and John Paul II. Both men were leaders and fishers of men. Pope John XXIII was at the helm of the Church at the start of the Second Vatican Council, which he called. Pope John Paul II, himself a bishop at the Council, was destined to lead the Church across the threshold of a new millennium. In the Apostolic Letter Novo millennio ineunte, which outlined the priorities of the Church for the new millennium, he focused on the significant words Duc in altum– words that derive from our Gospel today (v. 4).
