Todays Devotion Topic: Exalting Ones Self Luke 18: 14 (KJV) I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone that exalteth himself shall be abased and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Amen Two different men went to pray- a Pharisee and a publican. Pharisee saw himself righteous compared to the publican whilst the publican regards himself a sinner needing mercy. We live in a generation where theres always the tendency to think we have all we want or have received of the blessings of the Lord because of our own deeds of righteousness. Especially those good things we do for public approval. We boast of our ability to pay tithes, fast, preach, prophecy and speak in tongues more than the rest. We call others sinners and look down on them because they struggle with the sins and addictions that we do not. We generally feel such people are unworthy of Gods favour & blessings. We dont say so... we demonstrate in our attitude. Truth is, a humble person sees himself undeserving of Gods favour and prays that the Mercies of God locate and lift him from the dung hill and place him on higher grounds. In contrast, the prideful regard themselves highly placed in life, up and above all. Leaving no room for Gods Lifting Grace. But when theres no more room to move upwards, the only possible avenue to move is downwards. Always remember that God has unlimited blessings for all who seek Him with a humble heart. He takes the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. He resist the proud but gives grace to the humble. Grace to pray, study and understand scripture, grace for excellent academic results, grace for a successful career, business and marriage, GRACE FOR EVERY FORM OF LIFTING. Begin to pray now.
