Todays Devotion Topic: What Did These People Do To You Aaron? Text: Exo 32: 21 21 He said to Aaron, “What did these people do to you, that you led them into such great sin?” Amen Moses had spent forty days and night at Mt. Sinai receiving the 10 commandments from God. Then the Lord said to Moses, Go down, because of your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, they have become corrupt (Exo. 32:7) Moses turned and went down the mountain with the tablets of the testimony in his hands. They were inscribed on both sides, front and back. The tablets were the work of God; the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets (Exo 32: 15- 16). When Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, his anger burned and he threw the tablets out of his hands, breaking them to pieces at the foot of the mount (Exo 32: 19) Moses destroyed the golden calf (idol) they made and asked Aaron what did these people do to you that you LED them into SUCH GREAT SIN? “Do not be angry, my lord,” Aaron answered. “You know how prone these people are to evil. 23 They said to me, ‘Make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.’ 24 So I told them, ‘Whoever has any gold jewelry, take it off.’ Then they gave me the gold, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf!” (Exo 32: 22- 24) Please ask Aaron, how can it be that we throw gold into fire and a calf comes out?. You see He tried to blame his followers for his failure as their chief priest. Honestly, the corruption of followers must not corrupt their leader. The errors of followers only reveal incompetence of the leader. Note that in Exodus 32: 7, God actually referred to the Israelites as Moses people. It was Moses responsibility to make sure they remained in God and did His will. Christians, Pastors, Elders, Fathers, Mothers, Bosses, Teachers and everyone who currently is a leader or a potential one; be careful not to lead your children or subordinates to sin. It remains your failure if you succumb to the pressures of your subordinates and aid them to achieve whatever ungodly thing they love. Meditate on this and begin to pray now. Ask for mercy to remain true to what is right. FOR WE WILL RENDER ACCOUNTS FOR EVERY SOUL WE LEAD. (yonghana.org; Like our Facebook page: Y OUTREACH NETWORK)
