Todays Eagle Gazette Story (11/14) Action Reference: County: Lead levels at jail site acceptable Remember… B & Ws shallow test results showed lead levels increased to 2000 ppm at 10-12, the range for lead in Ohio soils is 1 ppm to 147 ppm (16.2 ppm ave.). Also remember that arsenic showed elevated levels of 94 ppm (versus a range of .5 to 56 and a median value of 5.8 ppm); Mercury showed elevated levels of 57 ppm (versus a range of .010 to 1.6 ppm and a median value of .06 ppm); and Chromium showed elevated levels of 330 ppm (versus a range of 2 to 80.5 ppm and a median value of 12 ppm). Let those at the Eagle Gazette and the commissioners be the first to drink from our wells!!! Kiger and Davis, for the first time, talked about possible tax increases to pay for the jail. But Davis said that would only occur if the commissioners would expand the jail from the proposed 384 beds and add 216 more beds. As stated previously, the commissioners have followed a plan of minimizing the need and the cost to the public. If they reduce the size of the jail (384) they can hide the true cost, cost difference between the downtown location and Liberty Center. Remember the need for deep pile foundations at the downtown site; they will be needed for the addition also. Remember the additional land acquisition (Marathon Station, Kings Furniture Building, etc.) that was in the original plan… then removed when the size was reduced. Minimizing is really a method of hiding the true cost until after the project is already started. Remember their records showed an average jail population from 270 up to 305 inmates per month, that the inmate population in Fairfield County increased by 39.1% from 2007 to 2012, that if the construction starts in 2015 - it will be 3 years before it is complete……… without the addition the jail will be full before it is complete. Minimizing equates to a lack of transparency. I hope all of you can now see what is going on. The Commissioners are dishonest about the plan, the cost, then funding and now the contamination. Follow the stories. Go back and archive the Eagle Gazette articles and what they are saying. They try to confuse everyone with changes in details until they get what they want. THEN WE WILL PAY WITH OUR LIVES AND OUR CHECKBOOKS !!!!!!!! This has to be stopped .......
